Simplestay Chatuchak, Surestay Collection By Best Western

After arriving very late in Bangkok, I spent one night at Simple Stay Hotel and found it a handy, inexpensive place to rest. The room was small but neat, spotless, and well kept, with recently renovated interiors that felt fresh and modern. The bathroom was clean and had a useful wet and dry separation, though it only had a shower. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the MRT and close to Or Tor Kor Market, a great spot to explore. For a budget business hotel near Chatuchak, the price felt like good value, especially if you want cleanliness and public transport nearby. Just make sure you’re booking this property, since there’s another nearby hotel with a similar name and a very different quality and star rating.

Clean, quiet, and no fuss. Simplestay is a solid budget option if you’re travelling light. Our room fit two carry-on bags, so it felt cramped for two people. A solo guest in a single-bed room would have more room for luggage, and even gets a table. The water pressure in both the toilet and shower was excellent, and the cleanliness was top notch. Chatuchak weekend market is a short walk away, across the road. If it’s too busy, use the MRT entrances and exits. There’s also a 7-Eleven across the highway for late snacks or Thai mixed drinks. Finding the lobby can be confusing because the hotel is also under Best Western. You can go through Best Western’s lobby and take the inner elevator, or take the escalator on the right side of the main lobby up to Simplestay. No need to buy a plug adapter: the room sockets support multiple plug types. We bought three and didn’t need any. Toiletries are limited to regular hair and body shampoo, so bring anything else you need.

For four nights, the breakfast buffet and room together were well worth the 150 USD I paid. There was a good range and plenty of food. The hotel is only steps from Chatuchak Weekend Market, so I could easily come back to cool off after shopping. The room is on the small, tight side, though as a petite Asian woman I fit comfortably and liked it. Just be aware the bathroom is very small too.

The shower fittings are my favorite brand, vrh, and they’re excellent. The tile work and grouting in the shower are just as good. This place has the feel of a hospital, if you want that without risking death. The surrounding area is confusing and a bit of a dump, so I’d suggest arriving by helicopter if you can.
