Sloth Hostel Don Mueang

The shower tiles on the fourth floor are very slippery, and the water doesn’t drain well. There’s only one shared space downstairs, and staff and a friend usually occupied most of the larger table. I wouldn’t call it a terrible hostel, but accurate room information and basic customer service matter. I’d booked based on a well known travel booking site listing my room type on floors 1-4, and I added a request for a low floor because I didn’t want to carry a heavy suitcase up four steep flights. I heard nothing back. In reality, that room type was only on the top floor. I was unhappy, and when Trip called the manager, the offered “solution” was an upgrade costing 300% more than I’d already paid. About the reviewer who said the airport was still 15 minutes away: it’s 5 to 7 minutes to the terminal entrance. It’s right there, though you need to go up a level and cross the roads and highway below. Once inside, the airport is long, so reaching departure counter # 1 (Air Asia) may take another 5 to 7 minutes, while domestic counters are much closer. For Don Mueang, I don’t think there’s a closer area to stay than where Sloth, Space Station Hostel & all the others are.

It was quiet, and each bed had a privacy curtain. The hostel is within walking distance of URT airport, and I liked my stay. Just be ready to carry your bags up two to four flights of stairs. I’d stay here again.

The noise could be a problem at times, and although the airport is nearby, walking there takes 15-20 minutes, which isn’t great with luggage. We stayed two nights. Everything else was fine, but the bed was unbelievably hard, like sleeping on concrete. I honestly think the tile floor would’ve been more comfortable. There are better options around, and I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it because I want to be able to sleep.

It’s a small, simple room, handy for a one-night stop before an early flight since Don Mueang Airport is an easy walk away. Be careful not to stain the towel, or the hostel will charge a 100 baht deposit.
