Snooze Hotel Thonglor Bangkok

The staff were extremely friendly, and the location is great for walking around Thong Lor. The entrance is down an alley at the back. This is a small Japanese-style boutique hotel with nine rooms, on two floors of a narrow high-rise, above a sushi restaurant and below a bar. Most rooms have nice views. In my room, the safe didn't work, but I left my valuables out and nothing was stolen, so I felt safe without it. The air conditioner never really turned off. There were cigarette burns on the sheets, though they had been properly laundered, which added to the charm. The floor-to-ceiling windows are mirrored outside, so nobody can see you walking around in your underwear or without it.

It's cheap, so I suppose you get what you pay for. The location is good, but the entrance was hard to find. It's on the fourth floor, through the same entrance as "another round". I had to call to wake the receptionist for check-in and the key. Nobody was there at checkout, so I couldn't get my deposit back and was told it would be sent to a Thai bank account, which is bad for tourists. The rooms were awful: very hard beds, dirty bathrooms, lots of ants, no WiFi, and a TV with nothing connected to it. There are bars in the building, with loud music and people until 1-2AM, and the door lets in a lot of noise. Not a good place if you want to rest.

I booked two nights but left after just two hours. The room was filthy, and the next one they moved me to wasn't much better, with stains on the bedding. It looked nothing like the photos. The woman on shift seemed drunk. She mentioned a 500bhat deposit, and since I'd arrived late, I said I'd sort it the next day. I didn't want to shower there, but had to. The building was supposed to be non-smoking, yet I could smell strong tobacco. At 11pm, just as I was settling in, she knocked and asked again about the deposit. I politely repeated that I'd handle it tomorrow because it was late. She seemed annoyed and said something about a friend. I felt completely unsettled and left. Luckily, I found a nearby hotel. We left after 20 minutes. If zero stars were an option, we'd give it that. The place and the room were filthy, and the street looked dodgy too. Don't let the photos fool you.
