Spittze Hotel Pratunam

We had a good stay. The Wi-Fi was decent, and there were several restaurants nearby. Breakfast options were basic but good enough to start the day, and there's a spa on the first floor offering massages until 1:00 a.m. The hotel is in Pratunam, a little walk from the market, which also means it's in a quieter area. The hotel was clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, the bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the bathroom was clean with good water pressure.

The location is superb if you like public transport. The metro station is a quick walk past the nearby seven eleven, and several shopping malls are easy to reach on foot. I've stayed in dozens of places in BKK over several weeks, and this felt like very good value for the money. I'll stay here next time, depending on my budget. Getting to reception means going through the hotel, which seemed odd until they explained the two properties are part of "two being one". They kept my luggage safely before check-in at the other, presumably main, hotel. The room was better than I expected after reading the reviews. It's a nice place with super-comfy beds, though the balcony is a bit weird. Don't expect luxury unless you're paying for it. There's a gym on the reception side, in the "other" hotel. It was okay for a proper workout, with decent weights, but if you need weights over 50kg, you'll probably want a proper gym.

We were charged a 2,000 Thai Baht fine at checkout for supposedly smoking on the room balcony, and we feel we were treated unfairly. At check-in, our group put all our passports and paperwork across the front desk. No one told us verbally that smoking on the balcony was prohibited, and the warning sign they said was on the counter was completely covered by our documents. We couldn't have seen it. The staff insisted they'd clearly told us about the rule, but everyone in our group says there was no verbal or written reminder about this specific policy. There was no visible notice in the room or on the balcony either. The hotel should have made an important rule clear in a way guests could actually notice. It was misleading and unreasonable to blame us for breaking a rule we had no way of knowing about, then make us pay what we consider an unjustified 2,000 THB fine. We felt deeply disrespected by the hotel's handling of the incident and its claim that we'd been informed.

There's a massage shop on the ground floor with very good service, and the stay itself was pleasant with enough space in the room. The hotel is near Pratunam market, but tucked far down an alley, so it's a walk from the main road and far from public transport. There isn't a convenience store nearby. Check-in is in another building because there's no front desk on-site. Staff could be a bit friendlier with guests.
