Squirrel House

The water stopped completely in both the shower and sink while I was showering, which was the biggest problem. I had no phone in the room or number listed online to call the front desk, so I had to go there in person to raise an issue. The room itself was clean, but the AC only started working after I adjusted it several times. At check-in I also found out there was only one room key, which was inconvenient. The building has no elevator, and the warm hallways have no air conditioning. Those hassles made the stay frustrating despite the tidy property and a few positives. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

We stayed for two nights and the room was clean and nice. The free water bottles and snacks are unlimited, which was a nice extra. It worked perfectly for us.

The family suite was an amazing room, with lots of thoughtful touches. The second bed is a pull-out sofa, which was fine for our one-night stay. I liked that the website clearly says the room faces the street and suggests ear plugs. I’m a light sleeper, but the ear plugs and double-pane window let me sleep just fine. There was even hot water at the bathroom sink, which felt like a luxury after traveling around Thailand for a month. This is a beautiful hostel, nicer than some of the four-star hotels we’ve stayed in. Highly recommend this little gem.

If you’re a light sleeper, I’d suggest a room on the top floor facing the garden. The rooms are new and very clean, and the staff kindly arranged a cab to the airport. Great value for money.
