Sunflower Place

The staff were lovely, and the double room was spacious and clean, with good air conditioning and Wi-Fi. It's a great value base for exploring Bangkok, right in the center but on a very quiet street.

The location worked really well for me, right in the middle of Silom with night markets, shopping, restaurants, and nightlife within easy reach. It's about a 10-minute walk to the BTS. The staff were extremely friendly, and I had no trouble coming and going. The front desk hours, 9 am - 9 pm, and 11 am checkout didn't cause me any issues, though 11 felt a little early. The hotel is down an alley from a main road, so deliveries or taxis can be tricky if the driver has poor navigation. I stayed in a fairly spacious King room at Sunflower place. It's clean, inexpensive, and safe, and I have no major complaints. A few small things: the TV was mounted so I couldn't reach the HDMI port to use my Nintendo Switch, the shower curtain was short enough to let water spread across the bathroom, the shower drain was exposed and felt a little gross and potentially dangerous, and there were some minor bug issues. I accidentally booked one fewer night than I intended. When staff came at checkout time, I thought they were there to clean, then they explained the booking mistake and I was embarrassed. It was entirely my fault, and they handled it kindly, letting me book another night without a problem. I would have stayed longer if I weren't going to another area, and I'd book here again if I get the chance.

A good budget hotel for the money. The staff are friendly and willing to sort out problems. The location is great, about 5 minutes from the BTS, night market, street food stalls, Silom complex, and other spots you can walk to. My room was clean and quiet, with a small balcony I never used. The mattress is firmer than at other budget hotels, but I liked it. Wi-Fi was great, with no trouble streaming live news on YouTube. The shower pressure was good, though the short curtain left water on the floor and the bathmat wet. The flat LCD TV only had Thai channels, and even the movies were dubbed in Thai. Breakfast was the same every day: two slices of white bread, three tomato slices, two eggs, and a glass of orange juice. Watch the juice glass on the tray, it slides around and I almost dropped it. I stayed for two weeks and recommend the place. I'll be back in a few months.

The price was very low, and the staff were friendly. It's a perfect spot, about a 10-minute walk from the Metro, though the nearby busy streets can be annoying, with all the sellers and massageinstitutes. Breakfast was complimentary this time as a trial. Don't pay for it. It was instant coffee, juice, a banana, toast with only butter and jam, two fried eggs that were cold and soft, and a cold chicken sausage. I would've been VERY disappointed if I'd bought it. If you just want a little something when hungry, the chilled coconut and instant noodles were a perfect choice at 20bath each.
