Vimala Suites

The shared kitchen and pool are nice extras, and the room has lots of windows, a well stocked bathroom, and AC that works well. For the price, you’re unlikely to find something this large so near a central BTS station as Vimala. A few things were awkward: the keycard and key setup is more cumbersome than a single key, the wifi was weak in some rooms, and the water heater didn’t keep the shower hot for long. It’s also a fairly long walk up to Sukhumvit, though that means nights are quieter than near the main road traffic.

The rooms are enormous, with lovely local views, and the staff are friendly. It’s easy to get around from here, and the area is peaceful while still being close to all the cool places, including Sorn. Hands down the best value I’ve found in Bangkok, and the best place I’ve stayed here.

I wasn’t happy with the mattress when I checked into Vimala Suites on Wednesday Oct 9th. I asked the owner if they would cancel the booking, but he refused emphatically. I even offered to pay half a day as a cancellation fee, and he and his son still said no, in a very snide way. The customer service left me really unhappy. There are plenty of other places to stay in the area, so I’d skip this one. I hate leaving a 2 star review, and would have preferred 2.5 if that were possible.

We had a very pleasant stay and hope to come back soon. The staff were friendly, and all the indoor and outdoor areas were clean and tidy. Breakfast was simple, just instant coffee and bread that you prepared yourself in a cozy dining room. It’s a new hotel in a quiet spot within walking distance of K Village and Bamboo Spa. I liked the mix of modern and vintage decor, with lots of white.
