Syama Mansion Phromphong

I’ve visited Bangkok countless times, and this was my fourth trip this year. This was easily one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. The room was much smaller than the photos suggested, and stepping inside reminded me of Hong Kong. The toilet has a see-through glass panel. The hotel is beside a busy road, with traffic noise and practically no soundproofing. I could hear the next room flushing, showering, and having, well, other activities. It’s also on a stretch that’s a red-light area, and as a woman traveling alone I didn’t feel safe at all. Except for Clary, the receptionists looked like they were furious with me and didn’t even say hello. I’ve stayed in plenty of other cheap hotels that were far better. Avoid this one and find somewhere else.

The reception area looks stunning, but the rooms are small, hot, and stuffy, and the hotel feels basic and dated. The glass bathroom is strange when you can see your partner using the toilet. There are lots of gentleman’s clubs next door, so it may be used mostly by people wanting a short-time room. For what you get, I didn’t think it was worth the price.

The room was really comfortable, and the staff were friendly with good service. This is a nice, luxurious hotel on Sukhumvit 33, with Emsphere, Emquartier, and Emporium all about a five minute walk away.

Great location, and the rooms and bedding are extremely comfortable. Highly recommend.
