Syama Suite Sukhumvit 20

The rooftop pool is about the size of a bathtub, and the rooms and furniture are old and badly worn. My sheets and blanket were ripped with big holes. After I complained, they replaced them with sheets that had stains instead. There was barely any daylight, just tiny room windows. A huge construction site with heavy machinery is right next door, but the hotel page didn’t mention it at all. Work started at 7 a.m., so sleeping in wasn’t possible. The large building project is only in its early stages and will continue for at least another year. Staff were completely unable or unwilling to deal with complaints. This place is completely overpriced, almost a scam.

I like the location, and the rooms are large, classy, and very nice, easily five star quality. The building seems to have only about 10 or 12 rooms across four floors, with a small pool on the roof. My one gripe is that the nightly price keeps going up every time I visit.

The room was spacious, with a large bed, an exclusive couch, and a nice bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I liked the location too, close to the Sukhumvit main road but tucked into a quiet cul-de-sac, so evenings were peaceful. The view from the window was a large construction site across the street, where a new hotel or building was going up. Heavy work ran from 6 AM to 6 PM, with cranes carrying heavy loads and constant metal cutting, hammering, and machinery noise. There was no peace in the morning, midday, or afternoon.

The room was huge, with a sofa and desk, and the bed was one of the best I've slept in. Everything was spotless, the Wi-Fi was fast, and there was a jacuzzi tub plus a wet-room style shower. The staff were great and the location worked perfectly for me. It cost a little more than I’d planned, but felt worth it. Staying five nights also gets you a sixth night free. I’d highly recommend it.
