Ariston Hotel

The hotel is right by Phrom Phong BTS Station, and Bongmakgol is inside if you’re looking for Korean food. Prices are affordable, and renovation work is underway to improve the stay.

The location was great, the view was nice, and staff were friendly. The manager was especially helpful when we spoke in the lobby. We didn’t have time to try breakfast because our train schedule was tight, but it looked awesome. The salon in the lobby was a real plus too. Its service was amazing, reasonably priced, and available early and late. It just opened, so show the new business some support. There were some frustrating parts. The room was worn, the toilet paper rolls were small, and we had to ask for more repeatedly, though it was brought quickly each time. There was no safe or lock box, and light showed through gaps around the doors. Staff said the hotel wasn’t responsible for stolen belongings, which made us uneasy whenever we went out. We were also asked to reuse the limited towels. That’s normally fine, but with plenty of towels sitting by the empty pool, it felt awkward to ask for extras. The pool area needs more chairs, and the bar shown in the pictures was being used for maintenance storage. The elevator was under repair a couple of times, and once it never arrived while we waited, so we walked down from the eighth floor. It’s a budget hotel with a lot going for it. With some sprucing up, it could be a hidden gem, maybe even a five-star stay.

We could hear the TVs in both neighboring rooms clearly, the walls don’t seem to block much sound. The location was great, breakfast was good, and the room was a decent size.

I spent 10 nights here over Christmas and thought it was worth five stars. The price is cheap, and my clean, quiet room on the 8th floor let me sleep really well. Only downside was the Wi-Fi, which was slow and unstable, probably because my room was far from the access point.
