The Bangkok Major Suite

There's a lot nearby, and the price seems fair for this area. The room was decent and clean, with shampoo and body wash, two toothbrush and toothpaste sets, two towels, a TV, and a bottle of water in the fridge. I may book here again if I'm back around the area, despite some uncomfortable moments on this first stay. Hopefully next time will feel more pleasant. A few practical things could be better. I usually get two bottles of water per night elsewhere, but there was only one here, so I had to ask for two more for the extra night. There was no mat or towel by the bathroom to dry your feet, so water got tracked across the floor. The air conditioner is in an odd place and takes a long time to cool the room, though it's fine once it does. I also couldn't make sense of the room booking. I had booked different rates for a deluxe room and a more expensive junior room, but was told I'd be in the same room either way. The staff member said the names can vary by booking site. My booking info clearly listed 25 for the junior and 21 for the deluxe, but she insisted it was the same deluxe room. The person on the phone didn't sound sincerely welcoming. When I called for directions, I was asked twice whether I'd already booked and paid. Then, after I entered with my key, someone asked if I already had a room. It didn't feel nice. Honestly, I didn't feel treated with much respect, almost like I was asking to stay for free. The hospitality here is certainly unusual.

The people in the soi were really kind, which made the stay feel sadder. I spent two nights there, and the second was my last. You have to carry a big, heavy brick of a key whenever you go out, or you can't get into the reception area. Don't expect much hospitality, daily room cleaning, or a working shower. There was only one working TV channel. Staff or the cleaning team kept blocking the lift, and staff offered no smiles or information and didn't seem to speak English.

I picked this place only because it was close to where I wanted to go in Bangkok, but the stay was awful. On arrival, the receptionist was asleep on the sofa. He was rude and said they had no booking for me, even after I showed my receipt and confirmation. He eventually let me stay. The rooms were filthy, with rats and cockroaches, and a disgusting smell. It wasn't cheap either, and there are plenty of places at the same price with much better service. Never go here.

The room had dust everywhere, though toiletries were provided. Staff were just OK, neither friendly nor hostile. The hotel is down an alley, but only a four-minute walk from Ratchayothin skytrain station, so the location gets four stars.
