The Duchess Hotel

The room felt huge for the price, and I liked the luxurious decor and convenient location. There was some food smell left behind from the previous guest, and renovations were going on during my stay, but I still couldn't complain for what I paid. Five stars from me.

I’ve tried several budget places in the city, and this has been my favorite. You get a bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen, and the location makes getting around easy. It’s right in the city, with the BTS just a short walk away, so it feels well worth the price.

The location was great, and the staff were friendly. My room was large and clean, but the bed and pillows were really hard. Parts of the hotel, including the pool, were under renovation and unavailable, which hadn’t been disclosed on booking.com when I booked. The hair dryer was so weak and tiny that I went three days without washing my hair.

I’ve stayed at every hotel on Lang Suan, and this one is beautiful. The rooms are huge, neat, well equipped, and housekeeping leaves them shining. Reception staff can seem reserved, though they’re helpful once you’ve been there a while. Getting to Chit Lom station or even a nearby 7-11 takes a bit of a walk. The big downside right now is that renovation has closed all the amenities. They really need a shuttle service, especially with the walk. The price seems lower than usual because of the work, while the next door Center Point hotel may feel more reassuring with its open amenities, glittering lobby, and very fast shuttle. Truth or Dare can bother people late at night, but if you’re young and in Bangkok, I’d go for the music, drinks, and fun. There’s also a Spanish Tapas Bar two minutes away that’s a must visit. I don’t think you’ll regret staying here.
