The Island Resort

Good value, with a comfortable bed, even by European standards. There's a 7/11 across the street and lots of places to eat nearby. The staff didn't speak much English, but they were helpful.

This feels more like an apartment building for short lets than a regular hotel. It worked for us because we wanted to walk to the big shopping mall and stay near the airport before flying out. The price was low, so we didn't expect much, and that's what we got. Parking was the main drawback. The car park is tiny and tight, and the roads around it are narrow. There are food stalls downstairs, along with a 7-11 and mini Big C. It was fine for what we needed.

There are plenty of street food options around, and the property is opposite a 7 eleven and Big C. That was the one thing I really liked. I was excited by the reviews, but I don't think most of them are accurate. Why call it Island Resort? The shower was nearly unusable. The heater was badly worn and the joints seemed to be coming apart, so be careful while showering. Ladies, bring your own shower cap. There were only two flimsy wire hangers, so bring hangers too. The internet worked well during the day.

We paid 700 baht for one night over the counter and stayed on the 8th floor. The room was basic, clean, and had a balcony. It came with two towels, while wifi had to be requested at arrival. Shampoo and soap were in dispensers, and the heater worked fine. The woman at reception spoke a little English; the man didn't, so we used Google Translate. Street food is right outside, and 7 eleven and Fashion Mall are about a five-minute walk down the alley. Don't miss the second-last shop on the first right street, next to a drink stall. It was the best authentic Thai food of our whole trip. The male waiters didn't speak English, but there were pictures of three dishes on the walls and a few pop star posters.
