The Prima Residence

A cozy, simple place near Don Mueang Airport. The small room was clean and had a relaxing feel. It had floor mats instead of the cold tiles common in other Southeast Asian hotels, so it almost felt like home. The AC, water heater, and toilet all worked without any major problems. The receptionist and driver were very nice. Airport transfers are available starting at 4:00 am, which makes this a suitable option for a night before an early morning or midnight flight.

The place is worn and could be cleaner. My shower was small, though they did provide shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. No toothbrush or toothpaste, but the water pressure was good. The walls are thin. The staff were helpful and worked hard to make things pleasant, and my shuttle arrived on time at 6AM. Getting there from the red line train station isn't easy, with almost no walkway for much of the way. I wouldn't recommend it if you're carrying heavy luggage.

For a hotel this close to DMK airport, the price is very low. The rooms are big and reasonably clean, but the beds are extremely hard. I know that's fairly common in Thai budget hotels, though I hadn't slept on one for years and now remember why. They do have a shuttle, which would've been useful. The night shift girl told us we could use it, but when we came down it wasn't offered after 9:30. What would stop me booking again, though, is the mosquitoes. They were in the lobby and in the room, and it was just annoying. Someone needs to deal with them.

The airport is only a ten-minute walk, and they even run a shuttle bus for morning departures. That's great service for the price. My room was clean and lovely, with a fresh, chic look. It didn't have a bedside socket, if I'm being fussy, but that's minor. When the outside AC unit started squeaking, they moved me straight away without any fuss. The staff were brilliant, helpful, and friendly. There's not much for tourists in the local area, but we worked out the bhat buses and took one, hoping for the best. It brought us somewhere livelier for dinner. I'd stay again, it's cool.
