We’ll be back, Chinatown is my favourite part of Bangkok. Our room was roomy and clean, though the decor is dated and could use an upgrade. I’d go for one of the city-view rooms. There’s a pool and a west-facing deck looking out over a temple, Chinatown, and the city. Staff were plentiful and super helpful. The hotel is right at the edge of Chinatown, a three-minute walk from the MRT and close to Yaowarat Rd, Song Wat Rd, and Talat Noi. Rooms are affordable and the service is great.

Breakfast was delicious, with a nice range of things to choose from, and the location made getting around easy. The hotel is near the MRT, railway station, convenience stores, and Chinatown. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable, though the Superior Room had just one small window facing the car park, so it felt a little enclosed. The front desk staff were polite but could have been more welcoming, and the lobby was slightly warm. Good stay for the price and location.

The location is handy, with a quick walk to the MRT or a short taxi ride to Chinatown. Rooms are a reasonable size, with a simple mini fridge and the essentials. The window is small, and on lower floors it looks straight onto the parking lot. Reception is on the 12th floor, where there are nice views, a basic outdoor pool better for lounging than swimming, and a balcony overlooking the city where people can smoke. Breakfast was decent, with the option to sit by a window with a view. Some dishes changed if you stayed more than one night.

Breakfast was very good, and the room had good WiFi and a smart TV. We spent three nights here before heading home, though the major roadworks outside look set to continue for a long time and spoiled the surroundings. At check-in they said our room was a free upgrade, but it was exactly like the photos on the booking page. We were told to hang the “make my room up tag” on the door if we wanted housekeeping. We left it off, but other places we stayed in Thailand, even much cheaper ones, still left water, toilet paper, and toiletries in a bag outside. Here we got nothing, which was disappointing for the price.

The location is the only thing I liked, since it’s fairly close to places around town, though it didn’t matter much to me. I found the hotel dirty, dusty, and badly maintained. The kitchen had peeling paint and looked abandoned, and the room seemed clean at first but was very dusty up close, with plenty of wear. The toilet smelled of sewage and damp. Several rooms had their fans running at full blast for hours during my stay, which made me think management knew this would happen. Breakfast was awful, with very few choices and poor food. Staff also wouldn’t change our sheets when we asked: I spotted a small stain, asked the next day, and still saw it. They only changed them after I left a handwritten note. The security setup seemed pointless too. One elevator was for the hotel and needed a card to reach a floor, but the public building elevator could go to any floor. I can’t understand people calling this a good hotel unless they got one of the higher-level rooms or tour groups are put in worse rooms. To me it’s more like 2.5 stars and doesn’t deserve four. It was smelly, disappointing, and not worth the money.
