VIX Bangkok at Victory Monument

Getting around was easy from here. BTS Victory Monument is a six minute walk, Victory Hub Mall is right next door, and there are eateries and other malls nearby. The rooms are a decent size, and it’s good value for the price. The downsides were noticeable. The exterior looked run down and quite different from the official photos. Soundproofing was poor: we heard corridor conversations, BTS trains, and noise from nearby buildings. The layout also felt awkward, with the bathroom and toilet by the entrance and the sleeping space farther inside, so opening the main door exposed the bathroom and felt short on privacy. The area is busy with heavy traffic, and getting a taxi to the airport can be tough at peak times. Booking transport through the hotel in advance would give more peace of mind.

For the price, it’s a comfortable and affordable place to stay, with a room that felt just the right size. The shower and toilet are separate, though the shower door in my room didn’t close snugly and water spilled out. The hotel sits in a small shopping complex about a six minute walk from Victory Monument BTS. A bus stop is right outside, and the monument is a major transport hub, so it’s easy to get around. Two other malls and a small local market are close for food and drinks. There’s no breakfast provided.

The location was great, the room clean and comfortable, and the staff nice and helpful. I’d recommend the place, but there were a few frustrating issues. Rust covered the shower faucets, and there seemed to be black mold behind the sinks. The fridge barely cooled anything, my fruit was only just cool the next morning. There were mood lights on the wall and above the bed, but we couldn’t find a switch to turn them off, so we had to sleep with them on. A switch by the bathroom area was broken and missing, and might have been connected to the lights. I also left my custom sleep earplugs in the room by mistake. The desk staff was kind and called the new guest, who couldn’t find them. He said policy was for staff to bring anything they found to the desk. I don’t know who wasn’t telling the truth, but it was still frustrating.

A handy spot, with BTS nearby and convenience stores and restaurants on all corners. The room itself was fine, but I wasn’t keen on the bathroom and shower setup. The fridge was lukewarm the whole time, so it didn’t really work as a fridge. It’s okay for a short stay, though at the same price I’d try somewhere else too.
