Doubled Boutique Residence

The pool was great, with a deep section where I couldn’t stand, which was a new experience for me. There’s also a very shallow part for kids. The bed was super comfortable, and I liked having a mini-kitchen with a microwave, kettle, and big fridge. The bathroom was good, but the water heater was frustrating. You have to run the hot tap strongly enough to make it switch on, then it gets too hot. Add a little cold water and the heater switches off. The receptionist was a disaster, as another reviewer had apparently said five years ago. She speaks very little English and seemed keen to be unpleasant. She told me the rate was 800 that day. When I asked about the next day, she said nothing. She handed over the key, and when I asked which floor, she didn’t answer either. If she doesn’t understand, she should say so instead of staying silent. The same reviewer had mentioned her rudeness five years ago, but nothing seems to have changed. She needs English lessons and better manners. Water and electricity are charged separately, which is fine. But at checkout she silently handed me 200 baht as the “remaining” deposit. I find it hard to believe the bills came to exactly 300 baht rather than 287, 296, or another amount. It would have been more honest to show the bills and charge the exact total. There’s daily cleaning, but I’d rather staff didn’t enter when I’m out. Reception could ask guests at check-in whether they want staff to go into the room. They kindly provide two bottles of water each day, though reusable glass bottles would avoid throwing away so much plastic. The TV remote didn’t work, so changing channels was impossible.

The room with the kitchenette felt roomy, and the balcony was a good size. We were in building B and changed rooms twice. Both had a water heater and a microwave, but the place is advertised as having a small kitchen and portable cooktop so guests can at least cook something. The pool and gym close at 9 pm. The gym is small, but you can still get a decent workout in. All in all, a great place to stay.

The staff were friendly and the Wi-Fi was pretty good. My only real comfort issue was the bed, which felt a little hard compared with other places I’ve stayed. If you won’t be spending much time lounging in the room, it probably won’t matter. For the price, it was a decent stay. The room was spacious and clean, though either the toilet or the sink leaked a little. There were towels to deal with it. I’d stay again if I needed a clean, inexpensive room.

Look up the road to this hotel on Google so you don’t get lost. The room had what I needed, good water pressure, and a layout I liked. There’s a small pool and a gym too. We picked this place because it’s close to most of the masjids in Pattaya, with lots of halal food within walking distance. Motorbike rentals and massage places are nearby as well. We stayed from November to December 2017, rented a car through Thai Rent via AirAsia, and picked it up at the airport. It was a really good bargain.
