Palai House

The setting is beautiful and quiet, with a nice pier and some good cafes and restaurants nearby. If you enjoy nature, it's lovely for walks and just taking in the surroundings, though it might feel boring to some. I've stayed twice now and came back. A couple of things weren't ideal: some of the linen looked yellowish, and there was a strange, fairly quiet sound from the roof in the mornings. I still don't know what caused it, but it reminded me of rain. I also loved spotting big snails in the bushes on evening walks. ☺️🐌

After a full day of tours or training, having a pool to come back to felt great. We booked the luxury villa, and the room was clean and spacious, with nice touches like cutlery, dishes, a big fridge, and a stove. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I'd love to return.

The insects were everywhere, all kinds, and the tiny pool got no sunlight. The room itself was damp, cramped, and uncomfortable, with a dirty bed and carpet. The fridge barely cooled and had a strong gas smell, and there was a problem with the bathtub too. I left after one night and canceled the rest of my booking. It wasn't worth the money, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.

At checkout, they deducted a large part of my deposit for things they claimed had been used or damaged, though I believe those claims were baseless. They took the deposit at check-in, which was fine, but the deductions felt like a way to cheat guests out of their money. When I challenged the charges, the staff were dismissive and uncooperative. I'd be very cautious about booking here. Photograph or film everything at arrival and departure, and keep all communication in writing. There are better, more honest options nearby, and I wouldn't choose this place if I wanted peace of mind.
