The Beatles Lagoon

We liked the clean, modern room and the lovely quiet setting, surrounded by nature. The city is about a 30-minute drive away, and the area feels mostly local. Bugs are part of being out in nature, though, and we had quite a few even inside, so that could bother some people. We also noticed a smell from the bathroom, and the thin walls let us hear everything, including people in the neighboring cabin. Still, we enjoyed our one-night stay.

The constant traffic, nearby construction from 7 AM, and roosters starting up at 6 AM made it impossible to get a decent night's sleep. Our room, number 11, was also beside a pump that kicked in every two minutes. The bathroom smelled musty, the view was a concrete wall, the safe listed in the amenities wasn't there, and the towel rack was barely fixed to the wall. The amenities felt very limited for a place presented as luxury. We arrived around 1 AM after a long journey. A housekeeper did her best to show us the room, though she didn't speak English. There was only one double bed for the three of us, despite our booking being for my husband, my son, and me. The manager said our child could stay in our room for free, but that didn't answer where he was supposed to sleep. After a pointless discussion, they brought a mattress for the floor, which was unacceptable for a so-called luxury hotel. The location is remote, so we needed taxis for every trip. There wasn't a proper reception either, with everything dealt with over WhatsApp. We expected a five-star stay and found it nowhere near that, not even two-star quality in our view. The whole visit was a huge letdown, and the hotel didn't live up to its rating or promises. If you want to enjoy your trip without these surprises, book somewhere else.

The host made the month feel especially special. She seemed to know what we needed, from adding extra padding to my mattress to bringing hot chicken soup when I wasn't feeling well. She quickly became a friend to everyone staying there, and I felt lucky to find the place. I leave The Beatles Lagoon today after a month in my “magical house.” I came looking for peace and nature, and found a beautiful, serene setting that was just wow. It's clean and quiet, with easy access to everything around. There are yoga classes and sound healing meditation on the premises too. I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for that kind of stay. Simply AMAZING!

We got lucky with an early check-in and a very calm spot, with stone walls that made it feel like we were in the middle of nowhere. It's a beautiful place, still not too far from everything, and we even saw a water monitor living there.
