Tamajun Hotel

A quirky hotel with loads of character, and the food is amazing. There’s a great beer selection to enjoy with a river view. If a small, dark room would bother you, make sure you book the right room, since the budget ones are quite small and dark. I’d recommend staying here when visiting chantaburi, and I’d happily come back.

I was just passing through and stopped for lunch, so I can’t comment on the hotel rooms. The food I ordered was tasty, though lunch orders are limited, so you can’t try everything at once. I sat outside on the terrace beside the river, where a few fun details added some decoration. There’s seating inside too. Parking was a little tight, but I found a spot farther down the street.

The restaurant was fantastic, with delicious Thai dishes at reasonable prices right on the river. There’s live music every night from 7pm. The hotel is in a 300-year-old area where many old shops have become hotels, cafes, and restaurants, and the conversion here was done beautifully. Some rooms are small and some have no windows, so appreciate the history of the place and neighborhood if you stay. I had a great stay, well worth five stars. I also booked the wrong dates, which were non-refundable, but the staff helped me at no extra cost. Thank you. If this boutique hotel were in Europe, you’d pay top prices.

The street gets lively at night, with local food, art, and culture. At the hotel, the rooms are all different, the staff are friendly, and there’s live music by the water. The menu is mostly traditional Thai food with a few lighter Western options. The riverfront setting brings together history and design. I enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to adventurous travelers, though better soundproofing would help with sleep.
