We booked five days at Lanna House and wound up staying twenty-one. It felt comfortable and welcoming from the start, and the hosts were sincere and respectful without hovering. The Wi-Fi was good for remote work, and the surroundings felt safe, peaceful, and warm. We’re already hoping to return to Thailand and stay here again. After a 24-hour trip, we arrived late on a rainy evening. Mr. Manus kindly helped us check in and drove us to a local noodle shop since we hadn’t eaten. That thoughtful welcome set the tone. Our guest house was roomy and clean, surrounded by nature. Fruit, snacks, tea, and coffee were always available, and each morning there was a fresh, generous homemade breakfast, sometimes classic and sometimes local-style. We liked it better than anything we could have found outside. We learned a lot about Chiang Dao through Mr. Manus. He took us to local temples, forest roads, and viewpoints, explaining the history and traditions as we went. We got to feed the monks early in the morning, join a Kathina ceremony with the local community, and see village-style Loy Krathong and Yi Peng celebrations. We wouldn’t have found those experiences on our own, and they helped us understand the culture naturally and respectfully. Lanna House is tucked among greenery, with cafés and restaurants still close by. You can rent a motorbike or borrow a bicycle, and Mr. Manus was ready to help if we needed to get somewhere. Mrs. Toy arranged our laundry and kindly dried our clothes. Their son, Mr. Tada, was around whenever we had questions. It felt like staying with a caring, well-organized family.
