The location is good, but please spare yourself the agony. We paid about 75 euros for three rooms, and this was easily the worst place among all the hotels, hostels, and other places we'd stayed. A Google rating of 4.4 feels completely unjustified. I hate writing reviews, but I'd hate more to see others fall for this deathtrap of a hotel. Every room had a bed, fridge, chair, power outlets, toilet, and shower. But the toilet and shower were crammed into the same tiny space. With no shower curtain, the toilet got completely wet whenever you showered. The room was poorly finished, with fungal growth visible if you looked closely. Not one socket in the room worked for charging a phone. Sound carried through the walls so clearly that I could almost make out what my parents-in-law were saying next door, and people walking in the street were easy to hear. Hygiene was among the worst I've seen in Thailand. I don't think the bed or floor had been cleaned in months.

Chom Khong 2 felt more like a hotel than a traditional wooden house, and I really liked how quiet it was. The one drawback was having to check in at Chom Khong 1. I was happy with my stay and would definitely return if I get the chance.

I was hoping to sleep in a wooden house with a Mekong view, like Chom Khong 1, so staying at Chom Khong 2 left me a little disappointed. It's about two sois from the first Chom Khong. The place is new, with an apartment-like feel outside and six rooms, three downstairs and three upstairs. The location is good, though I thought the rooms could fit the neighborhood better. At 2,500 baht a night with breakfast, the price surprised me and seemed a bit high. The ground floor opens toward the Mekong River and has a spacious patio, but children were running around all over it. The wooden bed was large, about five feet wide. There were a few bugs in every room, not many, but still not worth it. One room had an air conditioner dripping as if its pipes were clogged, so I called to switch rooms around 4-5 PM. There was no toilet paper, and I had to call both rooms to get some. On the plus side, the air conditioning cooled well, water pressure was strong, the fridge wasn't small, and there were two packets of instant coffee. They take part in the "We Travel Together" program. We paid 1,200 baht per room for this trip, and it still wasn't worth it for us.

The rooms are nicely done and feel worth the price. The place is clean, and the staff are friendly and give good service. I'd stay here again if I get the chance.

We had drinking water on the first day, but none on the second. There wasn't any coffee either.
