Baan Sakuna Resort

I haven't stayed at Baan Sakuna yet, but after the help I got there, I'd happily book it next time I'm in Chiang Khong. I arrived at 6am after a 13-hour bus ride from Bangkok, planning to cross into Laos, and had no idea where to go. There were no tourists around where the bus dropped me. Since this was the closest hotel, I went in, and a young man at reception explained everything clearly and called a tuk tuk to take me to the border. His English was excellent, which felt unusual among the Thai people I met. I'm very grateful to him. I'm sure a stay there would be amazing.

Mai made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived, with her warm manner, constant smile, helpfulness, and local knowledge. Thank you, Mai, for such a lovely stay 🙏 Baan Sakuna Resort is a peaceful place tucked into nature and kept in beautiful shape. It was a great way to reset after a long day on the road. I ride through North Thailand, so I'll be back every year. If you're passing through on a ride or want somewhere quiet and authentic with heartfelt hospitality, I'd recommend it.

Coming back after three years felt like returning home. This family-run place has a rare kind of hospitality: welcoming and professional, but never intrusive. The family has created something remarkable in Chiang Khong, with beautiful, spacious grounds and a garden that feels more like a small, thriving forest. You can see the care in every path, plant, and detail. The restaurant is well worth trying too. The food is delicious and prepared with the same attention as the rest of the property. Their tour booking service also felt completely trustworthy. They know the area, give honest advice, and work with professional partners, so I felt comfortable arranging excursions through them. The rooms are very clean, thoughtfully laid out, and furnished to a high standard. Everything feels solid and well maintained. After three years, I couldn't see any wear at all. The rooms somehow seemed newer than before, as if time had only improved them. Baan Sakuna is beautiful, peaceful, and clearly cared for with heart. The quality and experience make it excellent value. For comfort, an authentic feel, and genuine hospitality in Chiang Khong, this is the place.

Sakuna greets you with real warmth and kindness, and she's always ready to help or share what she knows about Lanna culture. The menu has fresh, tasty food. Rooms are clean and spacious, with spectacular views, and the peaceful property has beautifully kept gardens. It's a great place for either a short visit or a longer stay. You can walk to the Mekong foreshore path and into town. Happy to recommend.
