168 Chiangmai Guesthouse

The people running this hostel are wonderful, and they keep it exceptionally clean. It's a comfortable, friendly place in Chiangmai, with a decent coffee bar out front and drinking water, bananas and toast available each day. There's a night food market an easy walk away, with plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby. Old town is close too, with the usual tourist markets and some really good food. Good Taste had one of the best bowls of Khao Soi I ate on my whole trip. I had a great stay. The beds were a little stiff, but that's par for the course in Thailand. ✌️

I stayed two nights and had a really good time. The guesthouse is extremely clean, with roomy rooms, comfortable beds and enough toilets and showers. There are small lockers for valuables, and plenty of space to leave large backpacks in the room without worrying about security. The owner is very nice, helpful and always available.

You can sit on the terrace in the evening and watch the sunset, which I really enjoyed. It's not a super social hostel, though there's enough of a social feel. The spot is just outside the old quarter, convenient for walking or getting a grab. Staff were lovely and ready to help; early check-in is possible if the room's free. My room was clean and the beds were big, and the little breakfast included was a nice touch.

One of the best stays on our trip. The host was so lovely and accommodating, and the place was cleaned every day. We really liked the rooftop and the four cats. Booking Muay Thai fighting and our transfer to Pai was easy with the host's help. It's at the north gate, handy for walking to the night market and old town. I'd recommend it to anyone staying in Chiang Mai.
