9 Hostel - Hostel

I gave it three stars: one each for the location, the price, and the lovely guy who runs it. He was very friendly and nice, and there’s a cute cat too. The place is well located for activities, with lots going on nearby. There’s a food market around the corner, and the food and night markets are a great 15-20 minute walk away. It’s close to temples, 7-elevens, and other useful facilities. Pickups for excursions are easy, and there’s somewhere to leave your bags if you arrive early or have a late flight. The shower pressure was good, and the air con and fan worked well. It’s a great price, though you can’t expect luxury for that amount. When we first arrived, it seemed pleasant enough. Basic, but it looked like it had what we needed for our three-night stay. Then we found the bathroom crawling with live ants. We told the guy at reception, and he apologized, saying it was the first time it had happened. He brought bug spray and asked us to go out while the cleaner dealt with it. More than an hour later, we came back to hundreds of dead ants in the room. I had to ask for more spray and help getting rid of them. The next day, we were told housekeeping would come again, but the ants were there throughout our stay, spreading onto our towels and toiletries. Cleanliness could have been better, and there were lots of stains on things like the curtains. The Wi-Fi was almost unusable. The hallway window or gap had no curtain, so lots of light got in. If you’re a light sleeper, bring an eye mask. There was also a strange condom and tampon joke written on the door, which I found off-putting. They have laundry facilities if you’re happy to do it yourself, though I’m not sure of the cost. Around the corner, Mia's is a great option that cleans, dries, and folds laundry for a good price. The guy in charge was lovely, and given the cost and location, I wouldn’t rate the stay below three stars.

Good value, with a clean room and a great price. The staff even printed my flight itinerary before I left and let me check out half an hour late. I’d stay again.

The location was perfect, and the room was comfortable and quiet at night, though a little dark. I was doubtful about the bed because it seemed quite hard, but I slept so well that I started wondering if I’d been picking the wrong mattress my whole life. Thank you!

I had a pleasant stay, and the staff were really friendly. The one thing that would make it better is a safety rail on the top bunk.
