22 Hostel

After getting tired of hostels, I booked a private room for a night. The big, clean bed and private bathroom were such a nice change.

I needed to leave at 6am after arriving at 9pm, past check-in time, and everything worked out fine. The service was great, and the room was good quality.

It's a good-value place for a longer stay, with coffee and Ovaltine available, plus a microwave. They don't top up the drinks, though. I found it easy to get a Grab, and it's not far from Chiang Mai Provincial Administration Organization park. There are lots of food choices nearby and a coin laundry, and parking is available around the property. The hostel sits quite deep in a side street. My room was clean and had blackout curtains, so there was good privacy. The bathroom was fairly clean too, although it smelled fishy. I booked a 4-bed room but was given a 6-bed room when I arrived. Lockers are provided, but they're too small, and the room itself doesn't lock because there's no key. The hostel's main entrance does use a key card. You have to rent towels and toiletries. Bring your own soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and toothbrush.

The hard mattress made for an uncomfortable night. I also had to watch out for a few mosquitoes and kill them before bed. Still, the air conditioning works really well, and the hotel is fairly clean and close to shops and good street food. For the price, it's very good value.
