Amora Hotel Tapae Chiang Mai

The location made getting around easy, with the gate and historic wall a couple of minutes away on foot, and shops and a food market a short stroll further. We stayed four nights at the Amora Hotel in Chiang Mai and had secure, free parking for the whole visit. Coming by car, the parking area is on the left as you enter. Our room was bright and spacious, with a big bed, seating area, desk, plenty of storage, and a view of the river that felt very European. I loved the space around the bathroom sink, and everything was very clean. Check-in was easy, and the staff spoke fantastic English. We had our laundry done for around 1700 Thai baht, and it was returned to our room the next day. We also tried the spa buffet menu: shoulder and back, foot, and oil massages for around 3,000 Thai baht total and about two hours. My partner loves massages and said it was the best one he’d ever had. I discovered cracks and knots I didn’t know I had. Thank you, ladies! I’d definitely come back.

The spa was a real highlight, with top-notch treatments that left me relaxed. There’s also a small pool for a quick dip. I found the location close to the heart of Chiang Mai, so it was easy to get around. My room was clean, spacious, and comfortable after a day exploring, and the friendly, helpful staff made everything smooth. Amora Hotel felt like good value, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Chiang Mai.

The staff were kind and gracious, and the place was clean, so cleanliness wasn’t the issue. But the hotel feels old and worn down, especially the rooms, which no longer seem like four-star or even three-star rooms to me. The beds were very hard, the bathroom had no movable spray faucet, and there was a distinct odor everywhere. Breakfast was terrible, so I’d definitely skip it.

The location is great, just across from the old moat and within walking distance of the big night market. The lobby is grand, and the breakfast selection is good, though it leans more Asian. I stayed in 2023 and came back in May 2025. The rooms are a bit dated, but basic and decent. The price has risen since 2023, though everything else in the world has too.
