Even though it’s right in the center, the hotel was quiet and relaxing. At Gate Thaphae Hotel has a cozy, charming feel, and the room was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated in a traditional Thai style. The bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly, always smiling, and happy to offer tips or help. Borrowing the free bicycles was a nice bonus and made it easy and fun to get around the Old City. The location is spot on, just a short walk from Tha Phae Gate and Chang Moi street, with cafes, restaurants, markets, and everything else nearby.

The room was an adequate size and had a pleasant design, but some practical details could be better. There were fewer pillows and blankets than usual, and their quality was average. The bathroom was acceptable, though water drained very slowly after a shower, so the hotel should check the drainage. The hotel is near Tha Phae Gate and quiet at night. There is a car park, but space is very limited, so confirm in advance if you need to park. Only an American breakfast was available during our stay, so check whether breakfast is included before booking.

The hotel’s location was amazing, and the staff and manager made us feel really welcome and comfortable. I only wish they wouldn't put a mirror directly in front of the beds. Apart from that, it was a pretty good stay, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The staff were hospitable, and the location and price were convenient. I stayed for three nights in December 2025 and had requested a high floor in advance, which they provided. The room was well cleaned, and the towels and amenities were fresh and lovely. Breakfast was simple American style, but the Khao Tom (Thai rice soup) was delicious. This hotel deserves a perfect score.

I was so glad to find this hotel on my first trip to Chiang Mai. The rooms were beautiful, the shower was fantastic, and the staff were lovely. I loved the location and couldn't have been happier with my stay. Waking up to birds chirping on the balcony was a treat. Definitely recommend.
