We booked a Standard room, which was adequate for two people with a 24-inch suitcase and a duffle bag. Before booking, the hotel told us Standard rooms are on floors two and three facing the street, and suggested a Superior room in the rear building for a quieter stay. We didn’t upgrade. Ours was on level three, in a block separate from reception and facing the street. Victoria Nimman Hotel, across the road, had a live band from 10 pm Thursday through Sunday. The music usually ended around midnight, after which passing cars became more noticeable through the night. Light sleepers should keep that in mind. The location is handy, about a 12-minute walk to Nimman, with plenty of cafés, quirky shops, and cute cotton merchandise. A staff member walked us to our room after check-in and pointed out a nearby 7-Eleven, which was helpful. Their housekeeping sign is a pair of dolls: the male doll means clean the room, and the female means do not disturb. They may look a bit creepy to some, but it was a memorable touch. The room had basic amenities, but no toothbrushes. The shower area was cramped and water splashed out, so we had to angle the shower carefully to keep the toilet area from getting wet, even with the curtain. The rainforest showerhead was rusty and unusable, though the handheld one looked fairly new and worked fine. I really dislike lizards, so spotting three large ones outside our room on the first night was unsettling. None came inside, as far as I saw. There were fewer over the next nights, usually one or two outside. WiFi was a hassle because we had to reconnect whenever we returned to the room or the next morning. The “remember me” option didn’t work. We asked for daily housekeeping. Bottled water was always refilled, though tea bags were missed one day. Towels were changed when we left them on the floor, even though there weren’t clear instructions about that, and the system worked.

The room was clean and we had no issues with it, but the staff left us disappointed. They seemed to spend their time chatting with each other or sitting on the floor in public areas looking at their phones. Breakfast service was disappointing too. There were three staff members, but nobody seemed to notice the buffet had gone cold. When we had trouble booking a Grab, the front desk couldn’t give us details for another taxi. I expected more from this hotel.

We live in town and booked two nights here for a fun little staycation. We spent most of the time at the pool, and the breakfast was great, very Thai, so don’t expect waffles. The staff were friendly, and the beds were comfortable and clean. Loved it and will definitely come back!

We had a top-floor room with amazing views, and the rooms themselves are great with amazing service. The hotel is on one of the busiest streets for traffic, though, so a Grab or taxi may have trouble reaching it.

Tony was especially helpful, planning ideas for the days I was there and pointing me to a great place for local Thai food. Everyone at the hotel was kind, professional, and accommodating. I felt right at home and would happily stay again when I return to Chiang Mai.
