Dee Marc 2

Dee Marc is cheap, which is great, and it’s a fairly quiet hostel that’s clean enough. My main concern was the bugs: another guest and I both had a few bites that looked like bed bug bites, and I got bitten by mosquitoes a few times every night, so I kept my mosquito bite cream close while sleeping. The facilities are decent. The staff were okay, but not especially helpful.

They even let us leave our bags and shower hours after checkout, which was really kind. The staff were helpful, and the place was clean and quiet, so I slept well. Sleep matters a lot to me, as you can probably tell. We had a private room on the first floor with a good bed and frame. The Thai-style bed was very firm, with a soft cushion on top, but great for your back. I rated it four because the facility is fairly new and still lacks some charm. A bit of wall art would make it feel more homely, and the socket and light switch are so close that two plugs are only useful if they're small. A power bar and a lamp would help. For the price, towels in the room would be nice too. We enjoyed our stay and I'd be curious to see how the place develops.

A handy base for exploring Chiang Mai, just across the moat from the Old City and very close to an evening market. The beds are good, the Wi-Fi works well, and there's a nice common area. Staff were awesome too.

For such a cheap place, I had a really good experience, even though I was only there for one night. The Wi-Fi was the best I had, and I slept easily in the large dorm room. Most of the place was clean, and the workers were nice and helped me with a few things. There's a big room where you can hang out and relax with the other roommates. You'll need to walk or take a tuk-tuk to get to the center.
