The bathrooms and facilities were clean, and the laundry came back clean and smelling good, but at 60 baht per kilo it was pricey. The beds were rock hard, there were no curtains, and it didn’t feel like a social place. Most of the staff couldn’t speak English, which was frustrating; only the manager could, and he was around only sometimes. They canceled the Booking.com reservation so they wouldn’t have to pay a fee, I noticed when I went to leave a review. 315 Baht plus 20 Baht for a towel is far too much for what you get.

Ning Nong and his family made my first hostel stay a really pleasant one. He was helpful and accommodating, and could point me toward tours or ways to get around Chiang Mai. I didn’t book a tour this time, but I’d definitely return. The hostel itself was clean and comfortable. I stayed just two nights, and had a great time. Thanks, Ning Nong and family.

The mattresses are on the firm side, which suits me, though some people may find them too hard. The place is kept clean and tidy, with everything cleaned at least daily. Staff were friendly, and I got plenty of useful tips on things to do. They also had free tea and coffee, WiFi, towels, and water guns for Songkran. This was the best hostel I stayed at in Thailand.

Ning Nong is one of the kindest people we met. He was so accommodating that he even offered to get up at 3AM to help if we couldn’t find a taxi. There’s drinking water available all day, plus free morning toast. The location is prime, and the price is absurdly cheap for backpackers. Beds are fine and firm, and the owner can provide a mattress pad if you prefer. This was the best hostel of our whole trip in Thailand, and very few in Chiang Mai can compete.

The hostel is well placed, with most of the noteworthy spots in town within walking distance, and there’s a great coffee shop just around the corner that’s worth visiting. Ning-Nong knows the area well and speaks great English. He was a fantastic host and made my time in Chiang Mai memorable. The facilities were great too, and the free breakfast and coffee all day were a nice perk.
