The photos bore no resemblance to the reality. It was disgusting and literally unsanitary, with a mouldy smell, stains everywhere, and unwashed, stained bed sheets. I couldn’t stay and left straight away. I asked for a refund, but the property refused to return my money.

We had to leave because staying there was impossible. The property smelled bad, the air conditioner didn’t work, and there were stains everywhere, including on the bed sheets. Take a look at the pictures if you don’t believe me.

The location worked especially well for the Festival of the Lights. Nawarat Bridge on the Ping River was only a 1.7 km walk away, and Sripoom Boutique House is just outside the old city square. The place was comfortable and clean, with daily housekeeping. Laundry cost 50 baht per kilo, though the service took 24 hours. That was inconvenient for us as long-term travellers because we’d run out of clean clothes. We felt safe leaving valuables in the room while we were out for the day. We kept the bags with our passports locked up just in case, but honestly, I don’t think there would have been a problem.

The staff were very helpful, and the location was so convenient for touring Chiang Mai that the other issues didn’t bother us too much. The room smelled very damp, and there was mold in the air conditioning unit. Otherwise, it wasn’t terrible.
