Lamphu House Chiang Mai (SHA Extra Plus)

The balcony was a lovely place to unwind after a day in Chiang Mai, and the rooms were roomy and clean. Staff were very friendly and especially helpful with our luggage. We stayed two nights and had a generally positive time, with the hotel well placed for exploring and plenty to see and do close by. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked inviting and well kept. The bed was fine for a short stay, though quite firm, so a softer mattress might be better for a longer visit. The only downside was that the towels smelled a bit off after just one use. It’s a solid standard option, and we’d probably stay again.

The location was the one good thing, close to the Old City attractions and markets. The rooms felt damp and musty, there’s no elevator, and getting luggage upstairs was a hassle. At check-in we were told not to flush tissue or anything else, which meant putting waste in a bag. I’ve never had to do that in a modern hotel. The poorly designed bathroom also gets water all over the floor when you shower. The walls are so thin you can hear people showering and their morning alarms as you walk down the hall. The hotel calls itself an industrial-style boutique place, but it felt badly run and the amenities were even worse. Don’t let the pool fool you. If I’d known all this, I would’ve booked somewhere else. Stay away if you want a peaceful retreat or a romantic holiday hotel.

20th Feb 2026. Wat Chedi Luang, Chiang Mai’s oldest temple, is a one-minute walk away, and you can walk to the weekend night market too. The street is busy, but the hotel sits in a quiet local alley. There’s a pool to relax in and a very good breakfast selection, with enough food for an Asian woman. There’s no lift, so walking up three floors is good exercise. They didn’t provide a toothbrush or an extra hand towel. Good location and great value for money.

I enjoyed my stay a lot and will definitely come back soon. Good location and atmosphere, friendly, professional staff, and a very clean room. The water heater worked well and the water pressure was good too.
