Lanna House

There’s a clothing shop downstairs that has the same name as the hotel, and this review is about the shop, not the hotel. It's run by Indians, and the clothes are made a bit bigger, which I like. They have lots of T-shirts, singlets, shorts and long pants for 100 baht ($4) each. I've bought several pairs of the cotton long pants. They're comfortable and have an elastic waist and one big pocket. The ankles are elastic too, which annoys me, so I just take that off. They also sell Cool Weather Jackets for 200 to 350 baht. I never expected to buy a jacket in Thailand, but the mornings have been so Cool lately. They're keen to make a sale, but they'll help you find the right thing. I'll go back when I need more clothes.

In room 20, I woke up scratching at 12.30am, and by around 1.30am I found huge bed bugs had been biting me. I had at least 30 bites. The receptionist moved me to another room, but it was very mouldy and stinky, so I spent the next hour checking it for bugs and took a cold shower to ease the swelling. She said she'd tell the manager. I expected an apology in the morning, but when I mentioned the bed bugs at checkout, the morning receptionist just said, "I know." She didn't apologize or ask how I was. I was exhausted after a terrible night's sleep and didn't feel well, so I left without arguing. I'll never return and wouldn't recommend the place. It may be cheap, but I'd pay a bit more to stay somewhere nice. Lanna House is also next to a very loud bar with a terrible cover band playing late.

The internet is fast and the pricing is good, but the connection expires after a short time. I had to move from room 26 to room 11 after finding toilet problems. In room 11, the toilet door won't close properly and water leaks from the air conditioner. Management should have a standard procedure to make sure rooms are okay before the next guest moves in.

The location is very good, and the price is reasonable. The staff were okay, and the bed was comfortable, clean, and smelled nice. The interior has an okay Lanna style, with everything made of wood, but the lighting was broken. Sleep was alright in room No. 29, though with a night bar next door, I'd suggest choosing a higher floor.
