We chose this hotel for the old town location and the price, which was ideal. We booked four rooms. On the first night, one room’s heater gave an electric shock from the wire. There was no other room available, and with no hot water and cold weather, our friend couldn’t bathe there. The next day, another room lost power when, staff said, its breaker tripped. The electrical equipment and wiring need checking. A friend also lost a new, expensive Gucci item and some new shoes from the room while we were out at the Sunday night market. We’d forgotten to lock our luggage and only noticed the missing things a day after checking out, so we know our carelessness was partly to blame. Still, our trust is gone, and they should check their staff properly. Service wasn’t very good, though we hadn’t expected much to begin with. If you want an affordable room in the old town, don’t mind small rooms, and travel light, it could suit you. Don’t count on staff to carry large bags, and remember to lock your luggage. I gave the room and service two stars because I hadn’t checked reviews carefully beforehand. It was high season and cheap rooms were hard to find.

One night was enough for me. It was dark and dirty, and the photos must be years old. The pool was the only clean area. I knew it was a budget hotel, but at £30 a night I expected a bit better. There are nicer places in Chiang Mai for the same price.

The front desk staff were friendly and the location was great, but my room was noisy and the shower never got hot.

It’s close to the museum, temples, and nightlife, with hundreds of gap year students around partying. A great spot for them.
