The owner is a delight to talk to, and the staff were so helpful and accommodating that I spent some evenings just relaxing and enjoying their company. It’s friendly and laid back, right on the edge of old town, so you’re quickly in the heart of Chiang Mai. I found it peaceful in the evenings while still being close to everything. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms have private bathrooms and air conditioning. The value for money is the best around. I liked it so much that I stayed here several times during my six month Thailand trip. I’m sad I couldn’t spend even more time here. What a wonderful find. I’m grateful and will be back. Dirty hostel and a very bad experience. When we arrived, our room wasn’t ready, so they sent us to a “friends house”. On the last day they didn’t have enough money to return my motorbike deposit. We waited 20 minutes and arrived late at the airport.

Everyone here is so welcoming and cheerful, and they’ve taken care of all our needs and more. It’s a comfortable, rustic place, and the rooms have been very clean across the three different ones we stayed in during our visits to Chiang Mai. The location makes it easy to walk downtown and to markets. Mo at reception was kind and understanding when we asked to leave our bags while we went to Chiang Rai, and went out of their way to find us a great room. Nearthepark has been a great stay.

Getting in took hours because the staff were asleep at 6:30 pm, and there was nobody around to check me out the next morning. The room was filthy, the bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned, and pretty much anything that could be broken was broken. Awful service.
