The Passion

For the price and location, I thought it was great. The staff were really helpful, and there are lots of cool restaurants and an artist village close by. I had everything I needed and would stay again.

The room has the basics you’d expect from a hotel, no more and no less. It isn’t pretty, but it’s fine, and the bathroom was okay, clean, with a warm shower. The mattress lives up to the 'Diamond Soft' sticker on the bed, soft as diamonds. The road gets pretty quiet at night, though I guess the even numbered rooms on the other side are quieter. As the British say, it’s not too bad.

I felt very safe here, with 24hr reception and scan key entry, and the place was very clean. It was quiet for me, with only the usual hotel noises. Old City is about a 7-9 minute drive and nimman about 5-7 minutes, so you’ll need a scooter or car unless you only head into the city now and then. Nearby there’s great coffee, a pizza place, 7-11, and a few local restaurants with great food. I loved the quiet location away from the city bustle. I just wish there were a hot water pitcher and maybe a toaster in the downstairs common area for people’s own coffee and bread.

We stopped here to rest after the Mae Hong Son loop before heading to our next destination, and it did the job. The bed was comfortable and the air con was good. The shower wasn’t great, but not terrible either. There’s nothing to keep water away from the toilet, so every shower leaves the bathroom in a mess. I’d recommend it as a place to sleep after a trip or something.
