Rich Lanna House

The room at Rich Lanna House was enormous, and after weeks of squeezing into hostel spaces, I felt like I’d been handed a small province. The bathroom could have its own review, with vintage tiles, wooden furnishings, warm light, and rustic details that made me want to take a bath just for the fun of it. The whole property has an old-world feel, lovely furniture, a nice pool, and good coffee. It almost tells you to slow down. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the towels were soft, and the staff were kind and helpful throughout. I really enjoyed the coffee and pool too. Check-in was simple: the woman at reception scanned my passport, got a signature, handed me the keys, and I was in the room within minutes. After backpacking in Vietnam for several weeks, it felt like I’d accidentally gone from traveler to minor royalty. The Wi-Fi was the one headache. They hand you slips with usernames and passwords, and there’s more than one network and login. Five minutes before an important meeting, neither credential I had worked, so I ran back to reception and tried combinations until one worked on my laptop. My phone needed separate credentials, and then I had to log in again later. It’s the only hotel Wi-Fi I’ve used that seems to want an ongoing relationship. Test it as soon as you check in, before you need it.
