Spice House

The reception staff were kind, respectful, professional, and spoke excellent English. They handled our tour booking and airport transfer quickly and smoothly, making things easy throughout most of the stay. Checkout was the disappointing part. There was confusion, and we were suddenly told about extra fees that hadn’t been clearly explained in advance. That made the end of the stay uncomfortable and unnecessary. It’s a good hotel with strong service, but checkout needs to be clearer and more transparent to match the rest of the experience.

The garden is beautiful and clearly well cared for. It was my favorite place to relax with tea or a drink, day or evening. The hotel is one of the cutest and quietest in the old town, and our room had a lovely view of the garden and temple. The rooms aren’t large, but they’re well designed. Everyone was warm and kind, and I really liked the affordable, helpful laundry service, especially for a longer stay in Chiang Mai. Breakfast is a nice extra: it’s à la carte, served very quickly, and has a short selection of Asian and western dishes, fruit of the moment, and drinks. Nothing exceptional, but good. We had a nice stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere calm within walking distance of temples and delicious restaurants.

We stayed for 21 nights in January, and Spice House took such good care of my partner and me. The garden is beautiful, the staff are warm and friendly, and breakfast was adequate. We loved hanging out with our laptops in the cozy indoor/outdoor area downstairs by the garden. They also provide mosquito repellant. The hotel is tucked away from busy streets but still conveniently close to the big night market, Lanna Square for late night food, a few juice shops, and the eastern side outside the wall. Our room, 201, was at the end of the hallway, so it wasn’t too noisy. Toward the end of our stay a motorbike shop opened next door, though, and its bright white light shone through our window quite a bit. We had to keep the curtain completely closed, and I hope they can work something out with the shop owner. The room was spacious and clean, the bed and pillow were comfortable, and we got four water bottles each day. The separate toilet, shower, and sink were nice. Water pressure was a bit low, and the water was only lukewarm, never hot. They also offer affordable laundry service at 50 or 60 baht per kg, with 24-hour turnaround. Highly recommend staying here!

The garden was such a peaceful place to unwind after a day around the city, and the hotel was spotless throughout, from our room to the shared areas. We also found the staff attentive and professional, and breakfast had plenty of good options. Our room looked modern and lovely, better than we expected, while the location made it easy to get to nearby sights. We had a really delightful stay at Spice House.
