The balcony was one of the main reasons I booked, but the hotel completely bans smoking there, which makes it pretty useless for smokers. I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels and haven’t come across a rule this pointless and unfriendly to guests. It doesn’t benefit anyone and just restricts people. Smokers should avoid this place.

The rooms were spacious, which we liked, but the beds and couches were uncomfortable and made it hard to rest or sleep well. The hotel is also far from the nice places, so the location wasn’t ideal. Laundry was especially frustrating: we were quoted one price, then unexpected fees appeared when it came back, and we paid around $50 USD altogether. Staff weren’t helpful or willing to sort out the problem. The space itself was nice, but comfort and service fell short.

We’ve stayed here twice this year, and I’d come back on my next trip to Chiang Mai. The traditional Thai / Lanna feel makes it a beautiful hotel, and the lobby staff understood and spoke English well enough to help with our simple requests. There aren’t many places close by, but a Grab gets you to the city square in a few minutes. Highly recommended.

It’s a well-kept older hotel in the Lanna teak style, in a local area. The old city is about a 40-minute walk away. No smart TV.
