Tamada House

The only downside was the noise from the night markets and bars nearby. It was loud on the weekend, but didn’t bother us too much, and they provide earplugs. My girlfriend and I stayed at Tamada Hostel in a Double room with a private bathroom, and it was awesome: a big comfy bed, great AC, and a huge shower room. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. There’s a kitchen on site, and the breakfast we got was tasty. It’s great value, and I’d stay again. I recommend it!

This feels more like a guesthouse than a hostel, with no bunk beds in sight. The room had a bathrobe, slippers, towels, and everything else mentioned, and the owners were very accommodating. The beds were quite comfortable, unlike the slab-of-concrete mattresses I’ve found in many places in Thailand. I appreciated the call checking that I’d reached Chiang mai safely and asking whether I needed help with taxis. It can be noisy because it’s so close to the night bazaar, but they provide earplugs free of charge, or perhaps they’re included in the price. I slept decently and had a great stay.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was a pleasant stay for a reasonable price. It’s a little outside the old town, but the night bazaar is ideally placed nearby. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, with thoughtful extras like bathrobes from Granada.

We ended up staying four nights after extending our booking on the first day. Great value, with daily room cleaning and fresh towels. Breakfast was a lovely surprise, with fresh espresso or cappuccino and a choice of omelette, müsli, pancakes, and more. There’s also free water refills and coffee and tea throughout the day, and the staff helped us book bus tickets to BKK. The only downside was the rather hard bed, but putting a blanket underneath us fixed that.
