Thapae Happy House

For the price, the room and hospitality were amazing. I had to climb four levels every day since there's no elevator, but it was still a perfect base. Restaurants, cafes, and bars are all a short walk away, so I'd recommend it if you want things close by.

There's no breakfast, but plenty of places to eat nearby, including Starbucks, McDonald’s, and local restaurants. This is a nice, clean place right in the city center and very close to Tha Phae Gate. The staff are friendly and service-minded, and they can help coordinate with a rental provider if you need a vehicle. There are different room sizes to choose from.

After long, fun days in the Songkran water festivities, it was nice to have a quiet place to retreat to. Thapae Happy House was right in the middle of the action in Chiang Mai, only steps from Thapae Gate, the food stalls, and markets. My room was clean and comfortable, with a cozy feel that made it easy to unwind. The staff were lovely and welcoming, too. A great fit for a festive stay.

The hosts were really nice and helpful, and the location near the east gate, thapea gate is very good. We upgraded to a room with a balcony, which was useful for drying hand-washed laundry. But the bathroom had no hooks at all, and there were only three easy-to-miss ones in the sitting room. The bedside lamp hangs so low I kept bumping it, and there wasn't even a chair to temporarily hang anything on. I don't know how other people manage after bathing, or if they think towels aren't needed. This wasn't the cheapest place nearby, and the facilities need improvement. I wouldn't stay again.
