The Residence Hotel

Breakfast here is boring. They don’t provide toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand towels, shampoo, or body wash. The TV doesn’t connect to wifi, and there’s no washing machine. Smoking isn’t allowed indoors, but you can smoke on your balcony. This is a marijuana-free facility.

We chose the place because it was near the airport, but the bathtub had mold and my wife had an allergic reaction. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

We booked and paid for three people, but at check-in we were charged another 400 bath for an extra bed. They said the payment only covered the allowance for three people, not the bed itself. The third bed was a piece of wood with a 2 cm mattress on top. The website said Mountain View, though a large tree blocked the mountains. The service staff didn’t speak English and seemed really lost. All in all, it was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at.

Room 327 was clean and well equipped, and there’s a 7-Eleven and food vendors right outside, which is really handy. They serve Thai and American breakfast from 7 to 10am, with instant coffee, though I’d suggest eating elsewhere. The room didn’t feel private. Anyone on the fire-exit stairs balcony could see inside through the window, and one staff member actually did, which scared me a little. I couldn’t leave the curtains open for sunlight while I was in the room, which was a real pity.
