Uno Chiangmai

The location was the only part I liked. The bathrooms aren't even in the rooms, and the showers were gross and moldy. Customer service was basically nonexistent, and when someone was there, they were unfriendly and rude. I won't be coming back.

I'm writing this after the first night of a three-night stay, so this is just my initial impression. The room has no refrigerator, and after I left a pizza in there for about five hours, it was covered in ants. Those weren't moving spices or peppers, they were a horde of ants. A safe place for food and cold drinks in the room feels pretty essential. I was itching for about half an hour before I realized little ants were all over me. They didn't bite or cause physical pain, but the disgust was awful. I shudder to think how many I ate before noticing. The ant problem came directly from having nowhere to put my leftover food, and I can't recommend a hotel without a room refrigerator. The room is very centrally located, close to the night bazaar and surrounding spots, with plenty of late-night food and a 7-11 across the street. Check-in was simple. There's no regular front desk staff, but someone is usually nearby at a jointly managed cafe to help. An access code lets you into the building, which locks electronically. The bathroom is connected to the room by a balcony, an odd arrangement that seems to leave more chance for mosquito bites. I'll include pictures to show what I mean.

The place is clean and well kept, and it's at a junction near the night bazaar, food spots, and other places to eat. There wasn't anyone at the front counter, but it felt safe. It was also open to fully vaccinated travelers with a Thailand pass. There are rows of bars nearby, which can be a drawback, though I had errands in the area. For a quieter scene with fewer night bars, I'd try across the river and bridges next time.

There were thousands of ants in the room and on the bed, and the sheets were dirty when I arrived. The shower was very unclean too. The AC sort of worked, but kept cutting in and out.
