The pool is cool, and the area is quiet even though it’s next to a busy street. The hotel is well located, with a great laundry service right next door. The rooms are nicely decorated, especially for Christmas, though I didn't try breakfast. The walls and windows are paper thin, and the rooms aren't soundproof. In my room, which had a tiny balcony, bathroom sounds carried through the whole building. Bikes are rented for a fee, too. For the room and service, I found it a bit expensive.

We spent the second week of December here and had a great stay. The staff were warm and courteous, and Napia Restaurant on the hotel’s ground floor serves halal food. The host is a very warm lady, and the Thai dishes were some of the best we had. The hotel sits inside the walled old city, close enough to walk to many temples. The pool is beautiful and the rooms were as described. I’d definitely stay here again on another Chiang Mai visit.

Nothing to complain about. I slept better here than anywhere else so far in chaing Mai, and the place was super comfortable and peaceful. There’s plenty to do around, and the 50 baht bike rental is well worth it for riding around.

The bed was comfortable, the room clean, and the bathroom nice. The Vieng Mantra is just by a gate in the old town, with restaurants, bars and local shops close by. The Sunday night walking market is right at the end of the road. Breakfast was the letdown: just three set American options, served from 7.30am, too late if you’re heading out on a day excursion. We tried it one morning and waited 45 minutes for a disappointing meal. I’d book without breakfast, there are plenty of nice places a short walk away.
