WE Valley Hotel

The room was okay, but the door was loud and the walls didn't keep sound out. We could hear guests talking and doors closing, so bring mosquito repellent too. Service and communication were okay. Laundry cost a bit much, and there isn't a self-service laundry nearby. We stayed four nights at We Valley Hotel. It's a peaceful, quiet spot, and waking up to the beautiful mountain view was the highlight. The elevator stopped working on our third day, so we had to take the stairs. Breakfast choices were limited and repetitive. It's decent if you want quiet and mountain views, though some things could be improved.

The hotel is reasonable, but parking is a bit of a hassle and very limited. There are only six spots, and staff seem to use most of the on-site spaces. You'll probably need the overflow lot beside another hotel down the street, and it has no shade cover.

We stayed on the top floor, where the room was large and bright, with panoramic windows and a stunning view of doi suthep. The bed was comfortable and big, and the room was cleaned every day. It had a microwave, kettle, and the dishes you need. I was pleasantly surprised by the simulated fireplace. I did miss having a balcony. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, and the location was good if you want quiet evenings.

We were kept awake on the first night by neighboring guests whose loud children woke at 5 a.m. Later, in room 605, we found yellow-stained sheets and exposed electrical wiring, which looked like a safety risk. The bathrooms were dimly lit, and the hotel is somewhat isolated, so having a car is necessary. Breakfast wasn't up to basic expectations either: the food was cold, the quality seemed questionable, and the coffee machine dispensed something that didn't taste authentic. Our five-night stay was far from satisfactory. The rooms were much older than the attractive online photos suggested, with dated facilities and electrical problems. Although we'd booked a Mountain View room, reception initially said our request for a quieter room with a Mountain View wasn't possible. We showed our reservation and were then given one, but there were obvious electrical issues, including burnt stains outside room 610, where the air conditioner didn't work. When there was an electricity blackout, the hotel's workaround was to bypass the key card reader so the power would stay on. After the air conditioner failed, staff couldn't fix it. They moved us to a smaller, downgraded room facing the noisy street, which was an unpleasant surprise. The hotel also charged us 15 baht for a basic amenity, a bucket of ice, which leaked on the countertops. Together, this gave me the impression that profit mattered more than guest comfort, and left me questioning the hotel's commitment to safety. The whole stay felt like a trip to a bygone era. I'm moving to a gem called G Nimman Chiang Mai, which is only a little more expensive and is an architectural gem in a fantastic area.
