Adchara Mansion - Hostel

The owners really try to make your stay as good as they can. They let me use the freezer for my food and cold water, and we rented a scooter there for a good price. He also gave us a good deal to extend it by half a day. When we left, the lovely lady even gave us bananas for the trip. I stayed four nights. It was the cheapest place I’ve ever stayed, so it’s simple, but I liked it. The room was small, though that wasn’t an issue; the little fan worked well for us and the bed was comfortable. The owners are so friendly and sweet, always smiling and gentle. Breakfast was included and delicious, with different Thai dishes each day. They were adorable, and my fried rice even came in a bunny shape! I’d come back.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I didn’t like the rooms, and after I left, the owner waved his hand at me in a disgusting way. He wasn’t nice, and I’ll never return.

This is the cheapest hostel in Chiang Rai, and it’s been running smoothly for more than ten years, maybe much longer. The older brother manages all the facilities himself, and he does a good job of it. The price is fair, and it really isn’t that bad here. If you want something to suit a different taste, there are plenty of more expensive places. For us long-term travellers, this is more than good enough. Peace and love, bro.

For less than $5 a night, 162 baht, we got more than we expected. The owner was pleasant and quickly sorted out our small needs. There was hot water for coffee, a few off-street parking spaces, and a nice loft upstairs where we could lounge. The bathroom was clean, across the hall, and the small room itself was clean, comfortable, and quiet for most of the night. We can’t blame the hotel for the 45-minute street cat fight. There’s also a fantastic food market by the 7-11 on the corner. I didn’t get a single mosquito bite and saw none of the reported cockroaches or ants. Even if there were bugs, it’s a tropical place and bugs like the heat. I don’t understand the bad reviews. At this price, it’s unreasonable to judge the room by Marriott standards. If you’re an adventurous traveler trying to stretch your vacation budget, you’ll be perfectly happy here.
