I am Chiangrai

We stayed three nights in November 2016 with my partner and his mother. The rooms were spacious and very clean, with good air conditioning, and the place was quiet. The manager was kind and had only been there a month. I could imagine the hotel becoming really nice in season, once things are running properly. Getting there is a consideration. It's a long way from town, so you'll need a car or bike, or to pay for a taxi. Drivers didn't seem keen to come that far, and once we waited 30 minutes for one. There are only a few shops nearby, and with the pool unavailable, there wasn't much to do. The pool was green and out of order, which was disappointing since it was one of the reasons we booked. It now has a roof, so there's no sunbathing, and it doesn't look like the photos anymore. Some windowless rooms were damp from the air conditioning. We asked to move, and the second room was much better. Communication was difficult because the manager was the only staff member who spoke English, including at check-in and when asking about breakfast. There wasn't a breakfast choice: two fried eggs, toast, and luncheon meat. We couldn't explain that one of us was vegetarian. It was cooked before we arrived and left cold, so we didn't know how long it had been sitting out and chose not to eat it. We bought cereal instead. With everything working and in high season, I'm sure this could be a nice hotel, but it wasn't ready yet.
