Pah Hotel

The staff were amazing, and the small pool was fun. My wife, our five-month-old daughter, and I spent six nights at PAH (Peace and Happiness) and loved it. Our room was beautiful, service was great, and breakfast was good, with fresh fruit and juice every day. The minibar was free and restocked daily with beer, soda, noodles, and chips. Laundry and shuttle service were free as well. It's right in the heart of Chiang Rai. Highly recommended.

The price is very reasonable, and the hotel is clean and tidy. It's close to the clock tower, with the night market an easy walk away. We especially liked the free rides to and from the airport, and having fresh juice in the fridge around the clock was a nice touch.

The decor was nice and the location, right in front of a lovely temple, was good. But I don't believe all the positive reviews. We paid 1,500 baht each for two rooms, and it was the first time I'd stayed somewhere with no real windows. As the photos show, the windows are under a roof and face a wall. Both rooms had a horrible damp smell. The swimming pool looks like a fish bowl, and the breakfast room is so small we had to wait for a table. This should be turned into a parking lot. We're not animals, and they should at least say in the description that the rooms have no windows.

I think the hotel opened in 2018. It's a nicely renovated vintage house with private rooms as well as dorm beds. We stayed in the family room above reception, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is standard Western fare, with eggs, bacon, sausage, salad, and decent espresso made to order.
