Palin Family Cottage Hotel and Residence

A decent little place. The Thai people were friendly and helpful, as always. Reception gave us two tickets to the balloon festival for my wife and me. Great value for the room.

The garden balcony was our favorite spot. It was peaceful and shady, with doves cooing nearby, and we read and worked there often during our five nights. We found Palin Cottages at the last minute, and it turned out to be the best decision of our trip. The family running this very well-kept place were thoughtful, kind, and welcoming, and were always happy to give advice. Our suite with a bath was enormous, with beautiful furnishings, and breakfast was delicious each morning. They offered daily cleaning, and there was a very friendly little cat who loved being petted. We hope to come back one day.

The room package doesn't include breakfast. The cozy hotel is in a quiet residential area, next to a serviced apartment, and has parking and a cafe. The ladies running the place were there. We stayed on the second floor, where the only way up is by stairs. Inside, I liked the chunky wooden table and clean ceramic floor. There are two sinks in the toilet area and another by the entrance, plus lots of towel hangers in the bedroom area.

Everything else about this wonderful place was good, but some odd things spoiled the stay. A cat kept peeing on the seat of my expensive motorcycle and on my riding jacket. Management said it wasn't their cat, which didn't feel like a good enough explanation. The bed frame is made of high-quality wood, but creaks whenever someone moves and disturbs the other person. The mattress was okay, though it could be better, and the noise really ruined the sleep.
